Nintendo is one of the oldest and most revered gaming companies in the world, with a rich history of creating some of the most iconic video game franchises of all time. From the early days of the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) to the modern era of the Nintendo Switch, the company has consistently delivered quality games that have captured the hearts of gamers all over the world.

One of Nintendo’s most iconic franchises is Super Mario. The mustachioed plumber first made his debut in the classic arcade game Donkey Kong in 1981, before getting his own game, Super Mario Bros., in 1985. Since then, Mario has become one of the most recognizable and beloved characters in gaming history, starring in dozens of games across various genres, from platformers to racing games to sports games. With his trusty sidekick Luigi and a cast of colorful friends and enemies, Mario has remained a staple of Nintendo’s lineup for over three decades.

Another of Nintendo’s most iconic franchises is The Legend of Zelda. The first game in the series was released in 1986 for the NES, and it quickly became a fan favorite for its open-world gameplay, engaging story, and challenging puzzles. Over the years, The Legend of Zelda has spawned numerous sequels and spin-offs, each one building on the rich lore and mythology of the series. The most recent installment, Breath of the Wild, was released for the Nintendo Switch in 2017 and has been hailed as one of the greatest games of all time.

Pokémon is another iconic franchise that has been a cornerstone of Nintendo’s lineup since the late 1990s. The game was first released for the Game Boy in 1996, and it quickly became a global phenomenon, spawning an animated TV series, trading card game, and countless spin-off games. The core gameplay involves capturing and training creatures known as Pokémon, battling other trainers, and collecting badges to become the Pokémon Champion. With hundreds of different species to catch and train, as well as a rich competitive scene, Pokémon has remained incredibly popular for over two decades.

One of Nintendo’s most recent success stories is the Splatoon franchise. The first game was released for the Wii U in 2015, and it was a surprise hit thanks to its innovative gameplay mechanics and vibrant art style. In Splatoon, players control characters known as Inklings who can transform into squids and shoot ink to cover the environment and splat their opponents. The game’s unique take on the shooter genre, as well as its emphasis on teamwork and strategy, has made it a favorite among competitive gamers and casual players alike. Splatoon 2 was released for the Nintendo Switch in 2017 and has continued to build on the success of the original game.

These are just a few of the many iconic franchises that Nintendo has created over the years. From the timeless charm of Super Mario to the epic adventures of The Legend of Zelda to the competitive fun of Pokémon and Splatoon, Nintendo’s games have something for everyone. With a history of innovation, creativity, and quality, it’s no wonder that Nintendo remains one of the most beloved and influential gaming companies in the world.
